Reflecting on Cancun - Are churches too ambitious in what we are calling for?

If at COP meetings such as Cancun, churches and other civil society groups call for more than is achievable, do we raise expectations unhelpfully? When campaiging on climate change should we be pragmatic and what does pragmatism mean in this context? My freind and colleague Charles Reed, Foreign Policy Advisor, at the Church of England raises these questions.  I have left a comment on his blog post.

In a previous post Charles asks whether we can achieve the necessary international action on climate change through breaking down the problem into smaller bite-sized chunks and working on these outside of a UN process that requires agreement from every country?  Your thoughts?
